The Day of Play is a City of Chandler produced event that is part of a nation wide celebration recognizing the importance of fitness, health and wellness for kids of all ages.  Families are provided an opportunity to learn about a healthy lifestyle. 

Come spend the morning at Tumbleweed Park as we promote health, wellness, and fitness for kids of all ages. Free activities will get the kids playing and their minds active, while parents can explore the various booths on health, wellness, and fitness.

Day of Play will feature a variety of fun activities organized by many of the non-profit organizations, businesses and municipal divisions serving the community.

Featured Activities
Foam Fusion
Are you ready to run, walk, climb and crawl your way through our obstacle course filled with foam and challenges for all skill levels! The course is a non-competitive and the most important thing is to have fun while getting some exercise.
 
Come prepared to experience an obstacle course where you…
    *Scale a giant boot camp inflatable
    *Potato sack race your opponent
    *Search a pit of foam to find hidden bean bags
    *Agile enough to maneuver your way through a tricky trip wire
    *Military crawl through a foam filled rope course
    *Race through the ladder challenge
    *Test your physical endurance with the fitness dice. 
    *Finish strong by sprinting to the finish line through a wall of foam!

Participants that finish the Foam Fusion course will be rewarded with snacks courtesy of Sprouts Farmers Market and Buffalo Wild Wings. 

General Information
- Participants must be at least 5 years of age
Participants 18 years and over or Guardians of the Participants 17 years old and younger MUST sign waiver - to run the course
- All tickets purchased are nonrefundable 
- Tickets can be purchased on event day only
- Foam Fusion will operate from 8am to Noon
- Participant snacks are limited to the first 300
 
Cost
- $5 per person
- Each purchase includes 2 course runs for one individual

Hula Hoopla Contests
Come join the Hula Hoopla at the Day of Play! Three different contests of dizzying, spinning fun at the Playful City Stage!  Hula Hoopers 2 years and older are encouraged to participate and win some cool prize packets.  It's free to particpate...just bring yourself and grab a hula hoop from the Chandler Unified School District booth. 
 
Longest Hula Hooper starts at 9:10 am
You spin me right round baby, right round…and around and around...Let’s see who can keep their hoop spinning around the longest without stopping!
     *Participants will be seperated into to groups 2-6 years and 7-12 years
     *5 waves of competition will determine the winners in each age group;
      ranging from 15 seconds to 3 minutes of continuous hooping
 
“Simon Says” Hula Hooper starts at 10:10 am
Playing Simon Says with a new “spin”, bring your hula hoop and prepare for twirling fun!
     *Participants will be seperated into to groups 2-6 years and 7-12 years
     *10 participants per age group
     *Sign up sheets will be available at the Playful Stage starting at 8am
 
Most Creative Hooper starts at 11:10 am
Chandler’s got talent! Bring your hula hoop and prepare to amaze the crowd with your hoop tricks and energy!
     *Participants will be seperated into to groups 2-6 years and 7 years and up
     *10 participants per age group
     *Sign up sheets will be available at the Playful Stage starting at 8am

Flu Shots provided by Walgreens
Attendees will be able to get their flu shots during the event.  ID and Insurance Information will need to be provided.


Stage Performers' Bios
Studio 3 Performing Arts
The Studio 3 Showstoppers are a talented group of youth performers who love the stage!  These kids age 5 through 18 train weekly in voice and dance and are thrilled to be sharing their talents in the community.



Starz in Motion Dance School
Starz in Motion Dance School is a family owned and operated dance studio on Alma School Rd. and Germann Rd. in Chandler.  At Starz in Motion, you can expect the “Star” treatment from the minute you step through our doors.  We offer first rate dance instruction in a family-oriented, age-appropriate, and non-competitive atmosphere.  Each and every student and family are highly valued, and we are committed to exemplary customer service.  It is our goal to make you feel like you are a member of our family – make yourself at home!  We understand that everyone dances for different reasons, and whether you dance for recreation, skill building, or fitness, we have a program to meet your needs!  Classes are offered in jazz, ballet, hip-hop, break, tap, lyrical/contemporary, pom-cheer, and tumbling for all ages and levels.

Desert Star Dance
Desert Star Dance has been in operation since 2003 and thriving in the Phoenix East Valley for 14 years. They are excellence in dance, theater, tumbling, and creative movement classes for preschoolers through adults has influenced thousands of students throughout the years.
 
Their goal is to provide a strong foundation in movement using fun and creative techniques. Desert Star Dance strives to help children develop coordination, improve their self-esteem, encourage participation in a group setting, and enhance their physical fitness. Their programs encourage creativity and are a great resource for improving listening skills and memory.  But, most of all they are fun!

Arizona State Men's Gymnastics Team
The Arizona State Men's Gymnastics Team became a club sport in 1993 after the University cut the team due to Title IX budget issues. Since then, the team has continued to compete a full schedule against other NCAA teams while attempting to place individuals on the US National Team.  The loss of NCAA status has not dampened any spirits, nor ended the success of the team.  Since 1994, the team has won the USA National Collegiate Championship team title 20 times including the 2016-2017 season.  Many fine athletes from around the country continue to arrive each year at ASU, all with as much dedication, commitment, and desire to succeed as in years past.
