Junior Cook-Off Competition

The 2016 Chandler Chuck Wagon Cook-off will feature adventurous cooks, ages 10-15 years old, in our Junior Cook-Off. If you think you‘ve got what it takes to cook up a dessert that would please any Old West cowboy on the trail, then register for this great event! Top three desserts receive awards.

10 a.m. - 3 p.m. 
Small plates from competing Chuck Wagons

10 a.m. - 11 a.m. - Join us for breakfast: biscuits and gravy, quiche
12 - 1 p.m. - Delicious stews and fry bread for lunch
2 - 3 p.m. - Calling all dessert lovers!

All Day Events

Live music from Tortuga Brass Quartet, Barefoot and Pregnant, as well as the Paula and Ermal Show. Cooking demonstrations from Jan D'Atri and Arizona Historical Society's Hashknife Wagon. Wagon rides to the Arizona Railway Museum.  
Wagon Judging

1:30 - 4:30 p.m.

Wagon Authenticity Judging

located at Tumbleweed Ranch ‚Äč

Judges review each wagon based on its historical authenticity as an 1800s trail wagon, and its travel-worthiness. 

Judges also rate the authenticity of the camp set up and team dress. Awards presented on Saturday at 4 p.m.



6 - 8 p.m.
Campfire and S'mores

A Campfire Glow will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, when ranch visitors can enjoy a roaring camp fire, roast marshmallows to make s’mores, and relax under the stars. S’mores fixins can be purchased at the ranch, or families can bring their own marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers. Sing-a-long with traditional cowboy music, performed by Wally Bornmann.
