Be Green, Think Blue!

Recycling Paper in your blue recycling can.

Last year in Chandler over 3,000 tons of recyclable paper was thrown in the trash and ended up in the landfill. Although over half of what Chandler recycles is paper and cardboard, there is still more that can be recycled. Here is a list of paper items that are accepted in Chandler’s recycling program:

· Newspapers – Including inserts. Please remove rubber bands and plastic bags.

· Junk Mail – Including envelopes and inserts.

· Magazines, catalogs, paperback books and phone books.

· Office/School papers – Both white and colored paper.

· File folders- Remove plastic and metal pieces.

· Envelopes – Including those with windows and clasps.

· Post It Notes, notebooks – Please remove spiral binding and plastic covers.

· Paper bags- Please make sure they are clean and dry.

· Cardboard boxes – Includes those that contained prepared food, detergent, soda cans, facial tissue, medicine, and beauty products. Please remove all other packaging.

Paper items that are not accepted in Chandler’s recycling program include shredded paper, paper towels, napkins, paper plates, cups, gift wrap, tissue paper, cardboard milk/juice, and half gallon ice cream cartons.

Shredded paper can be reused in compost bins, reused as packing material, or can recycled in Paper Retriever bins found throughout Chandler.
