Special Event Planning & Funding Support

Chandler is a place that celebrates in many unique ways, in large part because of the diversity of community groups that organize the events. Our Chandler departments have worked hard to streamline the event permitting process while continuing to provide vital services that help make your event safe and successful. If your organization wants to host a festival or special event in the City of Chandler the information on this page can help. Chandler also has a Special Event Sponsorship Program that provides funding support for non-profit organizations.

SPECIAL EVENTS HANDBOOK

To assist you in planning festivals and events in our city, Chandler has compiled a helpful handbook for hosting festivals and events. Inside you will find information on Chandler event venues, directions on how to file applications for event permits and licenses, and all of the answers to your questions about security, emergency medical services, clean-up, insurance requirements, and more.

This handbook also contains a Special Events Application and everything you need to know and do to host a Special Event in Chandler. You will also find a helpful list of contact names and numbers and a list of city services and resources that can help you plan your event.

The City of Chandler encourages the production of community events and will assist applicants in ensuring that these events are clean, safe and beneficial to our citizens. It is our hope that your event will enhance our city and bring credit to your organizations.

SPECIAL EVENTS SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM

The City of Chandler’s Special Events Sponsorship Program is designed to assist local non-profit organizations in presenting events that serve the public and promote Chandler. The mission of the program is to provide support and sponsorship to quality special events, which enhance the community in the following ways:

  • Providing cultural and educational enrichment
  • Celebrating our unique diversity, history and heritage
  • Enhancing pride and a sense of community
  • Promoting a positive image of the City of Chandler
  • Endorsing economic vitality

The program is designed to be a short-term assistance as events become established.

Applications are due back to the City by Wednesday, September 8, 2010.

A panel of six citizens who currently serve on City-appointed boards and commissions will review the applications. The panel recommendations will then be submitted to the Chandler Cultural Foundation for approval. Awards will be announced at the end of September.

Each year since 2002, the City Council has approved $30,000 in funding to be allocated to organizations that present quality special events in Chandler.
