Chandler Chuck Wagon Cook-Off 2017

Experience a rare, up-close look at Western history at this FREE, family-friendly culinary event. Authentic 1880s chuck wagons from around the Southwest compete to cook up the best meals fit for the trail using slow-cook, wood-fire methods from the time period. See which wagon teams will win prizes for their efforts, while you get a taste of the Old West with a unique five-course meal from competitors.

Enjoy live music, cooking demonstrations, Western artisans, storytelling, unique vendors, group tours and more! The event supports the educational development of Tumbleweed Ranch.

We are now taking applications for 2017 Wagon Teams!

Applications are due on Friday, September 15, 5 p.m.

Arrive Thursday, November 9, and the fun starts Friday with a cooks’ meeting, and a morning Junior Chuck Wagon Cook Off competition. Friday also includes the afternoon “trail wagon” competition, where wagons will be judged based upon the ACWA’s criteria for trail wagons. Wagons can also sell “small plates” to the public at set times during the day. Friday wraps up with a family-oriented campfire, music and s’mores.  The real show begins on Saturday, when competing wagons will prepare a lunch meal for the public, and each of your courses will be critiqued by a panel of local judges. The event includes live music, activities, demonstrations, and unique vendors. End your day at a tasty cooks’ dinner hosted by Biscuitflats Chuck Wagon.

Details and application are here.

In addition, wagon team leaders must fill out a W-9 Form and return with the application.
