We’ve compiled some of the most frequently asked questions (FAQs) that City staff receives from customers about Chandler Information Technology (IT).

What is the role of the Information Technology Division?

The Information Technology Department is responsible for coordinating the use of computer technology across the various departments of our city government to ensure that accurate and timely information is provided to citizens, elected officials, management and staff.

Are computers used very much in the City of Chandler?

The City of Chandler is quite dependent on computers.  We have numerous file servers as well as personal computers.  In addition, I.T. supports a variety of large multi-user systems, including a criminal justice system, a financial system, a GIS system, etc.  City employees are provided with email, word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software, just to name a few.

Can I access any of these computers systems from my home computer?

Yes.  There are online systems already available for your use.  You can register for online for recreation classes, and if you are a vendor, you can register online to receive notice of solicitations for bids.  And you can also pay your utility bill online!

How important are the computers to the success of the City of Chandler?

Extremely important!  Information Technology provides the tools and support so that city employees have the opportunity to be many times more productive than they would be otherwise.  The success of I.T. has a direct impact on the success of the City of Chandler.
