Citizen Survey Results
 
Results of the 2009 Citizen Survey show Chandler residents are pleased with the overall direction the City is taking, citizen involvement is welcomed and believe they receive a good value for the taxes they pay. In addition, quality of Life and public trust rate high in Chandler.
 
The results are in and Chandler residents have again given the City stellar ratings as a great place to live, and for the quality of life they enjoy here.

  • 95 percent of those surveyed would recommend living in Chandler to someone who asks.
     
  • In the area of transportation, the City ranked higher than the national benchmark in: ease of car travel, ease of walking, ease of bicycle travel, ease of bus travel and traffic signal timing.
     
  • 87 percent of respondents ranked Chandler’s shopping opportunities as “excellent” or “good.”
     
  • Ranking above the national benchmark and above similar communities, were the following City’s safety services: ambulance/EMS, police services, fire prevention and education, traffic enforcement and crime prevention.
     
  • The City’s parks, recreation programs or classes and recreation centers or facilities all were rated above the national and custom benchmarks.
     
  • City of Chandler employees were given a rating or “excellent” or “good” for their overall impression by 87 percent of those surveyed, and were ranked above the national benchmarks for their knowledge, courtesy and responsiveness.

The 2009 survey was conducted by independent research firm, National Citizen Survey™, in collaboration with the International City/County Management Association (ICMA). Participation in the ICMA Citizen Survey allows cities to compare their survey results against those compiled by other cities with populations of 150,000 and over.
