 Chandler Provides Value to Residents
Chandler taxpayers can be assured that their community continues to have some of the lowest cost of services, utility charges, staffing levels and taxes in the Valley of the Sun.
Like the State of Arizona and many neighboring communities, the City of Chandler has been reviewing its fiscal policies, staffing levels and service priorities in anticipation of additional budget reductions due to the current recession. Through several public meetings, Chandler residents have been able to hear presentations from City staff, ask questions and share their opinions on what should be done to ensure the City’s financial future, while also continuing to provide the level of service and amenities Chandler is known for.
With important budget decisions being considered by the City Council, this is a good time for Chandler residents to take a closer look at the value they are getting for their local taxes and fees. A series of articles in the Arizona Republic in March and April 2010 noted that among major Valley cities, Chandler has the lowest sales tax rate, one of the lowest employee-to-resident ratios, and offers the lowest cost of service to its residents. Chandler residents also have some of the lowest water, sewer and garbage collection rates.
