The Day of Play is a state wide celebration recognizing the importance of fitness, health and wellness for kids of all ages.  Families are provided an opportunity to learn about a healthy lifestyle.

Tumbleweed Park
Free Admission!

Come spend the morning at Tumbleweed Park as we promote health, wellness, and fitness for kids of all ages. Free activities will get the kids playing and their minds active, while parents can explore the various booths on health, wellness, and fitness.

Day of Play will feature a variety of fun activities organized by many of the non-profit organizations, businesses and municipal divisions serving the community.

Volunteer Information
Are you interested in volunteering?  Volunteers make our events possible. We have a great opportunity for anyone who needs community service hours or just wants to help at a great event.  Volunteer opportunities range from setting up, water stations, field games or helping guests with event information.

Jump Rope Contest
Location: Main Stage at Day of Play
Contest Time: 10:45am-11:15am

General Information:
     • It’s FREE to participate
     • Register on event day at the Information Booth from 9:00am to 10:15am
     • There are two age categories: 4-6 and 7-10, with a maximum of 50 kids in each 
       category
     • The 4-6 age group will start right at 10:45am, the 7-10 age group will immediately 
       follow once they have completed the first competition.
     • Please be by the stage at 10:30am to get your jump rope to compete in the
       competition & line-up in your age category.
     • Participants need to be accompanied by parent/guardian
     • Participants will be photographed and pictures can be used for publication

Contest Format:
Ages 4-6
     • How long can you jump rope? Let’s put it to the test! In this age group, the winner will
       be chosen by who can jump rope consecutively for the longest period of time.
     • Whoever is the final jumper left at the end of the contest will win a prize and a Jump
       Rope Champion certificate!!

Ages 7-10
     • Round 1: everyone will jump rope forwards for 30 seconds without stopping. Everyone
       who successfully does this gets to move to Round 2.
     • Round 2: everyone who's left will jump rope backwards for 30 seconds without
       stopping. Everyone who successfully does this gets to move to Round 3.
     • Round 3: anyone left will have to jump anyway they'd like for as long as they can
       without stopping.
     • Whoever is the final jumper left at the end of the contest will win a prize and a Jump
       Rope Champion certificate!!

Rules:
     • Must use the jump rope provided.
     • Must be present from the start of Round 1 to be eligible to win.
     • There will be Chandler staff members who will help monitor the competition. Once
       one of them has tapped your shoulder, please kindly stop jumping rope and go to the
       side to watch the rest of the competition.
     • The winner of each age group will be announced immediately following his/her age
       group contest
     • Contestant must be present in order to claim his/her prize, otherwise the prize will be
       given to the runner-up.
     • Jumping Rope will take place on grass.


Foam Run
Run, Walk, Crawl, or laugh your way through our 5k course filled with colorful foam awesomeness! The most important thing is to have fun while getting some exercise. Trust us, this is the only time that a 30ft slip n slide, 5 foam stations, and fun obstacles are considered exercise. The 5k course is a non-competitive event.

Interested in participating as a vendor for the Chandler Day of Play? Potential vendors will need to provide a service or be a involved in the health, wellness, or fitness categories.

Submitting Application

     - The 2013 Vendor Priority application deadline is Tuesday, June 17, 2014.
     - The general vendor application deadline is Monday, August 11, 2014 or when all space has been reserved.
     - If you are a new organization applying to participate in the event, your application will be accepted on a first come first serve basis once the priority deadline has expired.  You are encouraged to submit an application prior to the 2013 vendor priority deadline and applications will be held in the order they are received.

Stage Performance Group Descriptions
2013 Performer: YoYo Factory – Tyler Severance
"Everyone is familiar with YoYos, and their basic tricks. Walking the Dog, Rock the Baby; but few have seen YoYos used at the highest skill level. Tyler explains and shows the audience different YoYo Styles, as well as pulling some guests up to show off their skills".



2013 Performer: Z-Ultimate Self Defense Studios
Z-Ultimate Self Defense Studios, LLC – ZUSDS – is a part of a family of martial arts companies formed with one goal in mind – to provide “Z-Ultimate” martial arts experience for students and their families by providing life changing and character building experiences through world-class personalized martial arts instruction. It is the largest martial arts company of its kind, with locations in the Midwest and on the West Coast. Our program is designed around professional & personalized private training; and our Ultimate Goal is personal growth and self-development for you, your child, or your family. 2013 Performer: Desert Star Dance
Desert Star Dance is located on the border of Chandler and Gilbert on the NE corner of McQueen and Ray. Desert Star Dance offers classes in all dance styles for children ages 2 and 1/2 and up.


2013 Performer: Aspire Kids Sports Center
Aspire Kids Sports Center is a 32,000 ft. gymnastics and swimming facility in Chandler. We offer classes for all ages in gymnastics, swimming, dance, martial arts, acro sport, tumbling, and trampoline. Aspire is home to an 80 ft. trampoline--the largest Tumble Trak in the state of Arizona! We offer year-round swim lessons in our indoor, heated swimming pool. Aspire is conveniently located one block west of the Chandler Fashion Center and one block south of Chandler Blvd.

2013 Performer: The Bracken School of Irish Dance
partnered with City of Chandler Parks and Recreation Irish Dance

Bracken School of Irish Dance located at Jeannes Dance Studio on Alma School and Galveston and The City of Chandler Parks and Recreation Irish Dance Classes located at the Downtown Community Center at 125 E Commonwealth Ave offer traditional Irish Dance classes ranging in ages from 3yrs to adult.
