DEVELOPMENT PROJECT COORDINATOR
Pay Grade: 23 FLSA Status: Exempt Job Group: Professional (P) Class Code: D015 Effective Date: 7/01 Revision Date: 8/03, 7/05, 4/09
Classification Summary: The primary function of an employee in this class is to develop, implement, and enhance customer service in the one-stop development review and approval process for Capital Improvement or private property projects. An employee in this class may be assigned to other duties in the City’s Planning and Development or Public Works Departments. Essential Functions: Essential Functions are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills. They are intended to be accurate summaries of what the job classification involves and what is required to perform it. Employees are responsible for all other duties as assigned. Coordinates and monitors the one-stop development service center function, workflow process, and system; Responds to inquiries, information and assistance requests, and complaints from customers and users; Facilitates complaint and problem resolution, tracking projects to determine problems or delays and suggesting solutions; Coordinates and monitors progress of high profile projects requiring quick turnaround time; Contacts users and potential users to provide information on services available and evaluate customer needs and suggestions; Coordinates project and work flow priorities and scheduling; Develops and maintains records of project status, handling, completion, and problem resolution; Functions as department public information contact; Participates in review, development, and implementation of policies and process improvement proposals; May serve as department public information contact; Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with City policies and procedures; Works in a safe manner and reports unsafe activity and conditions. Follows City-wide safety policy and practices and adheres to responsibilities concerning safety prevention, reporting and monitoring as outlined in the City’s Safety Handbook.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of: Methods, procedures, and terminology of construction project management and the development review and permitting process; Site planning, review, and development procedures and building design concepts; Municipal government planning, review, and development processes.
Ability to: Follow written and oral instructions; Develop and implement policies and procedures to expedite the development review and permit process and enhance customer service; Read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and diagrams; Prepare oral and written reports and maintain system tracking and performance records; Operate standard office equipment and a personal computer using program applications appropriate to assigned duties; Communicate effectively and establish and maintain working relationships with other employees, the public, developers and builders, customers, applicants, property owners, and other interested and affected parties.
Supervision Received: The work is performed under the direct supervision an assigned supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or a related field; Three (3) to five (5) years experience in planning, development review, or construction management or a related field. Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
Work Environment: The primary duties of this class are performed in a public building environment.
Essential Physical Abilities: Sufficient clarity of hearing, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to discern verbal instructions, use a telephone, and communicate with others; Sufficient visual acuity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to comprehend written work instructions, technical documents, and blueprints and diagrams; Sufficient manual dexterity with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to operate standard office equipment and to make adjustments to equipment; Sufficient body flexibility and personal mobility, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to work in an office setting and conduct field inspections.
