Chandler’s Tumbleweed Park will once again be the site of one of the largest Independence Day celebrations and fireworks displays in the East Valley on Saturday, July 4, 2009. The Chandler 4th of July 7UP Fireworks Spectacular begins at 4 p.m., with fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Admission to the park is free, and on-site event parking is $5 per vehicle. Tumbleweed Park is on the southwest corner of McQueen and Germann roads.
In addition to fireworks, the event will feature live music, a free kids carnival, a bike parade, and food and beverage vendors. Activities include a 35-foot water slide, 24-foot rock-climbing wall, dunk tank, and assorted water games and interactive amusements for kids. The live music will include performances by the bands Plastic Gladys at 6:30 p.m., and Panhead Ronnie at 8:30 p.m.
The Cactus Bike Push, Pull, Peddle Bike Parade will be held at 6 p.m., with each registrant receiving a free gift. The participant with the bike that is decorated best will win a Harro children’s bike. The event is presented annually by the Chandler Lions Club and the City of Chandler, along with the support of sponsors, including Kalil Bottling Company. “Many communities and organizations are struggling financially this year to produce Independence Day events,” said John Stewart, a member of the Lions Club and chairman of the event. “We are proud to host this family event, and all we ask is that attendees purchase at least one beverage from our vendors at the park to help us generate the revenue we need to keep it free in the future.”
Tumbleweed Park is located on the southwest corner of McQueen and Germann roads in Chandler. Enter the event from either westbound Germann Rd. or north and southbound McQueen Rd. A map with parking directions is available online.

1. Can I bring my own food to the event?
Answer: Yes, you can. However, the Chandler Lions Club as that you purchase your beverages at the event to help keep the event free.
2. Can I bring my dog with me?
Answer: Yes, you can as long as it stays on its leash. It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that dogs stay home due to the large crowds and noise from the fireworks.
3. Can I B-Q-Q on my own grill?
Answer: No, you cannot. Open flames are not allowed in the park whether they are in park grills or personal grills.
4. Are the kids games really free?
Answer: Yes, they are. All kids games are provided complimentary of the Chandler Lions Club.
