Feb. 25, 2010 - Chandler City Council Meeting Recap
CHANDLER, Ariz. – The Chandler City Council met at 7 p.m. Thursday, February 25, 2010. Among the actions taken by the Council:
- Approved the authorization of a retirement incentive program and a voluntary separation to help reduce ongoing personnel costs.
- Approved an involuntary separation program for City employees in the event of layoffs to City staff.
- Agreed to repeal the Immigration Policy approved March 11, 1999, to allow the Police Chief the authority to change immigration enforcement procedures.
- Authorized the Chandler Parks and Recreation Board recommendation to recognize Eddie Basha with a plaque at Celebration Plaza at Tumbleweed Park.
In addition, the Mayor proclaimed March as Disabilities Awareness month, and recognized several residents for their service to the disabled community, as well as reading a Proclamation recognizing the upcoming Ostrich Festival March 12, 13 and 14 at Tumbleweed Park. City Manager Mark Pentz was awarded the John J. DeBolske Professional Excellence Award, the highest honor bestowed by the Arizona City/County Manager Association.
