T.G. I. F (Think Green It’s Friday!): City program monitors industrial pollutants in City sewers

CHANDLER, Ariz. – The City of Chandler has an Industrial Pretreatment Program that monitors, samples and inspects the wastewater discharges of 30 industries and several hundred commercial businesses (restaurants, car washes, etc.) that discharge into the City's sewer system.

The purpose of the program is to reduce the discharge of potentially toxic pollutants into the municipal sewer system, and thereby, reduce the amount of pollutants released into the environment.

In 2008, Chandler’s Industrial Pretreatment Program was recognized by the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality for its excellence and was nominated for the National Pretreatment Program Excellence Award.
