July 26, 2010, Chandler City Council Meeting Recap
CHANDLER, Ariz. – The Chandler City Council met at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2010. Among the items the Council acted on:
· Introduced an ordinance amending the City Code relating to the signature requirements for Mayor and Council candidate petitions.
· Annexed 1.84 acres located on the northeast corner of Riggs and Cooper roads.
· Authorized the dedication in fee of portions of city-owned parks and municipal utilities property for public roadway adjacent to Pecos Road, between McQueen Road and Cooper Road.
· Granted three no-cost power easements to Salt River Project to provide power to the new bus rapid transit stations on Arizona Avenue at the northeast corner of Warner Road and the northeast and southeast corners of Germann Road.
· Introduced an ordinance amending the City Code to include the establishment of a City Healthcare Benefits Trust Fund and Trust Board to administer the Fund.
· Granted two no-cost 12kv power distribution easements and four no-cost 69kv ground easements to Salt River Project for the Chandler Boulevard/Dobson Road intersection improvement project.
In addition, a Special Meeting was held adopting the Fiscal Year 2010-11 property tax levy. The total tax rate will be $1.1814 per $100 of assessed valuation.
During Scheduled Public Appearances, the Council recognized the delegation of Chandler residents, employees and community leaders who represented Chandler at the All-America City Awards Competition held last month in Kansas City.
The meeting concluded at 9:05 p.m.
