Chandler Fire Department invites community to Open House September 24
The Chandler Fire Department is holding a free open house for the public from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011, at the Fire Training Center at 3550 S. Dobson Road. The event is part of the Department’s ongoing efforts to educate residents about the services provided by Chandler Fire, and to share safety, fire prevention and emergency preparedness information with the public.
In addition to tours of the Fire Training Center, there will also be demonstrations on vehicle extraction and fire extinguishment, fire truck displays, and information booths on drowning prevention, Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT), and the Fire Cadet program. Department mascots will also be on hand, along with free balloons, popcorn and fire helmets for the kids. The Chandler Fire Pipers and Drummers will perform at 9:30 and 11 a.m., and child car seat installations are available by calling 480-782-2046 to schedule an appointment.
This open house will also feature instruction on Hands-OnlyTM CPR, with sessions held every 25 minutes. Hands-OnlyTM CPR, performed by a bystander has been shown to be as effective as “conventional” CPR in emergencies that occur at home, work or in public. There are only two steps to remember: Call 911 and push hard and fast in the center of the chest.
The Fire Training Center is located just south of Queen Creek Road on the West side of Dobson Road. For more information about the Chandler Fire Department, visit www.chandleraz.gov/fire .
