Chandler Centennial festivities in July and August include Independence Day celebration and Family Nights at Tumbleweed Rec Center

Chandler’s yearlong centennial commemoration continues during the hot summer months with several special events, including one of the largest Independence Day celebrations in the East Valley.

The organizers of these events, and the others listed below, applied for and received the Official Centennial Event designation from the Centennial Steering Committee. A complete listing of Centennial events for the entire year is at www.chandler100th.com.


July 2012 Official Centennial Events

• July 1-31 (Mondays through Saturdays)
I Paint My Reality: Tribute by the Phoenix Fridas 
Vision Gallery, 10 E. Chicago Street
10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday

• July 4
Chandler 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular
Presented by the Chandler Lions Club, the City of Chandler, 7UP and Kalil Bottling Company
.Tumbleweed Park, 2250 S. McQueen Road
4 to 10:30 p.m. (fireworks at 9:30 p.m.)
Admission to the park is free, and on-site event parking is $5 per vehicle. 
The live music will include performances by the bands Vinyl’s End at 7 p.m., and Plastic Gladys at 8:30 p.m. In addition to fireworks and live music, there is also a free kids carnival, a bike parade, and food and beverage vendors. Activities include a 35-foot water slide, 24-foot rock-climbing wall, dunk tank, and assorted water games and interactive amusements for kids. For more information, call 480-782-2735 or listen to HOT 97.5 FM for updates. Tumbleweed Recreation Center Family Nights
Presented by the Chandler Recreation Division

Ages 1 to 12: $2 for Residents/$3 for Non-Residents
Ages 13 to 17: $3 for Residents/$5 for Non-Residents

Chandler Art Walk
Presented by the Downtown Chandler Community Partnership (DCCP)
6 to 10 p.m. – Historic Downtown Chandler
Free Admission
The Art Walk provides a fun family atmosphere where you can browse the many different types of art available from our talented artists. It's a great opportunity to visit all of the unique establishments in downtown Chandler. Live music from local talent is featured throughout the evening. Finally, while the Chandler Farmers Market is officially on hiatus during the summer, the market’s farmer continues to bring fresh, Arizona grown produce to downtown Chandler every Thursday, from 3-7 p.m.
