Chandler Police and Fire, Health & Medical departments will host free Public Safety Fair on March 5
The Chandler Fire, Health & Medical (CFHM) Department and the Chandler Police Department will co-host a free Public Safety Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2016. This fun, educational and family friendly event will be held on Washington Street, between Colorado and Chicago streets, just east of Chandler City Hall, and in adjacent parking lots.
In addition to Police vehicles and CFHM apparatus on display, the Fair will feature safety tips and training, information booths, and hands-on activities for children. The Kids’ Zone will include the Fire Safety House, a Water Safety demonstration, free child fingerprinting, and mascots from both departments –McGruff the Crime Dog and I-Stalo.
Police exhibitions will include the K-9 Unit, Bike Team, Honor Guard, Tactical Robot Unit, and the Special Assignment Unit, which will demonstrate a building entry and the use of less lethal weapons and tactics. The CFHM Technical Rescue Unit will demonstrate rappelling and vehicle extraction techniques using the “jaws of life.” The CFHM Department’s Pipes & Drums Unit also will perform.
Chandler Fire, Health & Medical Dept. Open HouseOther activities include a vintage car show, Hands-Only CPRTM classes, tours of the Police Department headquarters, and a variety of local food trucks will have food and beverages for sale.
Free parking is available within walking distance, including the City Hall parking garage at 240 S. Washington St., or the garage at 100 E. Boston St. People attending the annual Ostrich Festival Parade, being held that morning nearby along Arizona Avenue, are invited to stop by the Public Safety Fair after the parade.
