Chandler Fire, Health & Medical collecting holiday toys for local children
Chandler Fire, Health & Medical Dept. Holiday Toy Ride at Chanler Fashion CenterThe Chandler Fire, Health & Medical (CFHM) Department is once again collecting toys during the holiday season with all donations brightening the holidays for Chandler children who might otherwise go without this year. The highlight of the annual toy drive is the Holiday Toy Ride from 2-8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016, at Chandler Fashion Center. Anyone who donates a new, unwrapped toy during the Holiday Toy Ride will receive a ride in a Chandler fire engine.
The toy collection point at Chandler Fashion Center is near the valet parking area outside of the food court on the south side of the mall. An adult must accompany all children 6 years of age and younger on their ride.
Chandler firefighters and volunteers will help deliver the toys to the Chandler CARE Center, where they will be distributed to families that have been identified through the staff at each Chandler Unified School District elementary school.
“The annual Toy Drive has been a tremendous success over the years. We have had the opportunity to witness the generosity of so many Chandler families when it comes to holiday giving and we, in turn, are able to fulfill kid’s dreams of riding in a fire engine,” said Chandler Fire, Health & Medical Chief Tom Dwiggins. “This event is just another way that our fire department personnel get to partner with the citizens we serve and together make a difference for those in need.”
Toy donations can also be dropped off in the lobby of the Fire Administration Headquarters at 151 E. Boston Street through Dec. 16 or at any Chandler fire station.
