Enjoy free outdoor concert Jan. 19 

The Sonoran Sunset Series at Veterans Oasis Park continues from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, and will feature the winning band from Chandler’s 13th Annual Teen Talent Competition to be held Jan. 13 at the Chandler Center for the Arts.  

Spend an evening under the desert sky at this free family event. Veterans Oasis Park is located at 4050 E. Chandler Heights Road and is home to the Environmental Education Center (EEC), a five-acre fishing lake, trails and picnic areas.

The series of outdoor concerts are held the third Thursday of the month from October through March, and concertgoers are welcome to bring blankets, folding chairs and food.

Appearing in February will be The Real Thing Band playing tunes from an expansive repertoire that includes hits from the ‘60s and ‘70s, current dance hits, Rock, Country, Soul, Funk, Motown, Jazz, Blues, Easy Listening, Pop and Top 40.

Veterans Oasis Park is open daily from 6 a.m.to10:30 p.m. The EEC is located within the park and promotes eco-friendly lifestyles through programs, classes and workshops for children and adults. The EEC is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m.to 5 p.m. Fridays and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays. The EEC is closed on Sundays and holidays.
