More than 60 miles of City streets being resurfaced

The rehabilitation of 66 lane miles of Chandler streets will occur over the next several months in Chandler as part of an annual street repaving program. The repairs will occur along various sections of residential streets and be performed by M. R. Tanner Construction, Inc. of Gilbert.

The $7.1 million repaving project began this week in parts of west Chandler and will continue through early summer and involve removing the top inch-and-a-half of old asphalt and replacing it with new pavement. This type of repair, called Mill and Inlay, becomes necessary when the existing pavement is in such condition that the street can no longer be maintained with slurry seal or micro seal applications.

The work is being performed on neighborhood streets in various parts of the City. Some of the more concentrated areas of work will occur in portions of the following neighborhoods:
  • Dobson Estates
  • Hearthstone Unit 1
  • May’s Pond
  • San Marcos Estates
  • Saratoga Square
  • Southwest Shawnee Park
  • Tradition East
  • Willis Ranch Unit 1
Maps showing specific locations can be found by clicking on the Road Construction & Street Closures link on the Transportation page of the City’s website, chandleraz.gov/transportation.

Notices to homeowners and businesses fronting the streets will be provided in advance of the work. Access will be maintained to residences and businesses during the construction.
