Chandler hosts Miss Indian Arizona Scholarship Program and Indian Art Expo Pre-Show

The City of Chandler and its Human Relations Commission, in partnership with the Miss Indian Arizona Association, invite the community to support the annual Miss Indian Arizona Scholarship Program at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Chandler Center for the Arts, 250 N. Arizona Ave.

During the event, young Indian women proudly display their talent, poise, grace, speaking ability and tribal traditions on stage. Proceeds from the event provide scholarships to young American Indian women, encouraging them to pursue their educational goals. Event tickets are $17 for adults and $7 for children, and are available online at chandlercenter.org

Prior to the competition, the City will host an Indian Art Expo Pre-show from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Vendors will sell Native American jewelry, paintings and pottery. In addition, the pre-show will feature Native art demonstrations including beading, painting, copper jewelry making and native apparel. There also will be a hoop dance performance from Champion Hoop Dancer Moontee Sinquah at 5 p.m. The art expo is free to the public.
