9th Annual Urban Fishing Clinic & Outdoor Safety Event Nov. 4 at Veterans Oasis Park

Have yourself a “reel” good time at Chandler’s 9th Annual Urban Fishing Clinic & Outdoor Safety Event at Veterans Oasis Park, Saturday, Nov. 4.

The free all-ages event is from 8:30 a.m. until noon at 4050 E. Chandler Heights Road and is hosted by the Environmental Education Center (EEC) and sponsored by Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD).  In addition to fishing at the park’s five-acre lake, there will be free information, activities and demonstrations focused on outdoor safety.

Fishing instructors will provide basic fishing tips and hands-on guidance. Bait and a limited number of fishing rods will be available for loan on a first-come, first-served basis. The Chandler Police Department will host an informational booth, and the Aquatics Division will provide water safety information. The Chandler Fire, Health and Medical Department will have a fire engine on display from 8:30-11 a.m., and be sure to check out the free activities and crafts provided by the EEC.

No fishing license is required during the clinic, but those wishing to fish must register at the AZGFD booth. Anyone fishing outside of the clinic hours will require a license. Visit www.azgfd.gov for information about fishing licenses and regulations. Fishing licenses and supplies are not available for purchase at the park.

Inclement weather may cause the program to be altered or cancelled. Visit www.chandleraz.gov/eec, or call 480-782-2890 for additional information and obtain updates on the EEC’s Facebook page at www.Facebook.com/ChandlerEEC.
