Although we are still taking reports from residents, we are not sending out code enforcement staff to homes with a reported violation at this time where an interaction with a homeowner is necessary. These cases will be resolved once it is safe for our staff to do so.

For an update on existing cases, please contact 480-782-4320.

On March 24, 2020, Governor Doug Ducey issued an executive order delaying the enforcement of eviction action orders for renters impacted by COVID-19. The order applies to renters who are quarantining due to COVID-19 or are facing economic hardship as a result of the outbreak. It will remain in effect for 120 days. In addition, the Arizona Department of Housing offers assistance to Arizonans struggling to make mortgage payments.

If you are in need of food assistance and basic hygiene products, there are several nonprofits that can help you. For a complete list of nonprofit organizations, visit For Our City-Chandler.

On March 27, 2020, Congress passed a federal stimulus package known as the CARES Act. This Act includes the temporary Relief for Workers Affected by Coronavirus Act set out in Title II, Subtitle A. Section 2102 of the CARES Act creates a new temporary federal program called Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA).

PUA is a new program that provides benefits to individuals who are not otherwise eligible for Unemployment Insurance. Applications for PUA will be processed beginning the week of May 12 and payments will begin for eligible claimants that same week. DES will attempt to reach out to clients if additional information is needed regarding their eligibility. Individuals who have already submitted an application and have been denied should not apply again, as DES will be implementing PUA to those who have been denied dating back to Feb. 2. The $600 Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation benefits will be retroactive as of March 29, 2020.

Both wait lists are currently closed. If you already applied and need to follow-up with our staff on the status of your application, please contact the Housing and Redevelopment Office at 480-782-3200.
