Since 1872, celebrating Arbor Day has been a part of our country’s commitment to supporting our natural spaces. Through planting trees, we celebrate native landscapes, create habitats for wildlife and improve our quality of life.

Donate a Living Tree to Chandler Parks

Not everybody has the means to plant a tree in honor of Arbor Day. Alternatively, consider participating in Chandler’s Living Tree Donation Program to help beautify our City parks.

According to Tyrone Allen, Chandler’s Parks Maintenance Supervisor, the Living Tree Donation Program is responsible for adding more than 20 trees a year to our park system, which over time has amounted to hundreds of new trees for residents to enjoy.

"The City of Chandler's Living Tree Program is a wonderful way for someone to celebrate a loved one, anniversary or special moment,” Allen said. “At the same time, you are providing a tree that will beautify and offer much-needed shade in our parks.”

Throughout the ages, trees have stood as strong life symbols. Some of the most common reasons why people choose to donate a living tree include:

  • Remembering a deceased loved one

  • Celebrating a new birth

  • Honoring a lineage through a family tree

  • Beautifying the local parks and community

  • Supporting efforts to protect the environment

Donating a tree is as simple as making a monetary donation. Our Parks Division will plant your tree and take care of regular maintenance for the tree’s health. You are welcome to work with the staff to select the tree and location in the park.

Donation options include:

  • 15-gallon container/6-8 ft. | $60
  • 24” box /8-10 ft. | $150
  • 36” box/10-12 ft. | $500*
  • 48” box/12-14 ft. | $950*

*Includes a 4” x 7” cast bronze plaque, which will be included and installed at the base of your tree. If your donation is less than $500 you may provide an additional donation of $167 for the installation of a plaque.

Make a Difference With Your Donation

Arbor Day is a special day that allows us to take time to acknowledge the critical role trees play in our environment. Trees provide so many benefits to our everyday lives. They improve our air quality, filter and clean our drinking water, create homes for thousands of living species and even help curb climate change.
