Indian Gaming Revenue Sharing

In 2002, a coalition of Arizona Indian tribes successfully obtained passage of Proposition 202, whereby the State was authorized to enter into gaming compacts with individual tribes.

The new compacts allowed for expanded tribal gaming devices use of games and as well as pari-mutuel wagering. In exchange, tribes agreed to share a portion of gaming revenues with the State and its counties, cities and towns.

Organizations meeting the City's criteria may apply for "pass-through" grants that require City Council approval through resolution. Once approval is attained from the City, it is the responsibility of the organization to submit all documentation to the Gila River Indian Community (GRIC).

If you would like to discuss a pass-through grant with the City of Chandler, please contact Matt Burdick at 480-782-2232 or matt.burdick@chandleraz.gov. Organizations must be located in or serve the residents of Chandler to be eligible to receive City Council support for their application.
