History Bites Architectural Chandler: Arthur Burnett Benton’s San Marcos Hotel
When Dr. Chandler founded the town of Chandler, he had a vision to build a grand resort hotel where wealthy visitors could spend the winter months. To make this hotel a reality, he hired Arthur Burnett Benton to design the crown jewel of his desert empire. Benton was a well-known Los Angeles architect who specialized in Mission Revival architecture. Museum Manager Jody Crago will share Benton’s story and the impact of his Chandler project.
