History Bites: Vietnamese Diaspora in America through Poetry
Join the Chandler Museum in welcoming Susan Nguyen, author of Dear Diaspora and senior editor of Hayden's Ferry Review, as February's History Bites Speaker. Susan attended ASU for her MFA in poetry, during her time she used funding from one of her awarded fellowships to conduct an oral history project focused on the Vietnamese diaspora in the United States.
In her book, Dear Diaspora, she confronts the experiences of diaspora and girlhood through poetry in an unapologetic reckoning with history, memory, and grief. While the Chandler Museum hosts the exhibition, Textures of Remembrance, spend an afternoon listening to a local artist/writer share her work on the Vietnamese diaspora.
Registration encouraged; walk-ins are also welcome.
Get a taste of Chandler's history during 30-minute talks led by museum curators and local experts. These bite-sized events are available to all ages with topics geared towards older audiences. Bring some take-out or a brown bag lunch to enjoy during History Bites.
