Local author, Katrina Shawver will share experiences from her time meeting with then—85-year old Holocaust survivor, Henry Zguda, as well as her efforts in sharing his remarkable story through her book, Henry: A Polish Swimmer’s True Story of Friendship from Auschwitz to America.
Henry Zguda spent three years in Auschwitz and Buchenwald as a political prisoner during the second world war. Since Henry’s death in 2003, Shawver has dedicated much of her life to finishing this book, which recounts Henry’s unique and powerful story. The book includes a first-person narrative drawn from interviews with Henry, as well as original photos and documents.
