The next City of Chandler Primary Election will be held in July 2024, where three Councilmembers will be elected to serve on the Chandler City Council. The General election will be held November 2024.

Registered Independent Voters
All City of Chandler registered voters including independent registered voters are eligible to vote in the primary election. Methods for registered independent voters to cast a ballot in the primary election.
Active Early Voting List (AEVL)
AEVL voters will receive a postcard in the mail to select a preferred ballot: Democrat race, Republican race, or City of Chandler only ballot. Return the postcard by mail, and the requested ballot will be mailed starting July 3. Independent voters on the AEVL who do not choose a ballot or do not return the postcard will not receive a mailed ballot in the primary election. Any City of Chandler content will appear on the ballot for both parties, so all Chandler voters will be able to vote for; Chandler candidates and measures.
Early Voting Ballot Request
To request an early ballot be mailed, contact the Maricopa County Elections Department by phone or request online at Request a Mail Ballot. You will be asked to select a preferred ballot: Democrat race, Republican race, or City of Chandler only ballot. The last day to request an early mailed ballot is July 19.
Onsite Early Voting
Voters can vote in person, get a replacement ballot, or drop off their voted early ballot at an on-site early voting location July 3 - July 26, and on Election Day July 30.
Independent voters and those without a party preference can vote in Primary Elections but cannot vote in Presidential Preference Elections. In Arizona’s Primary Elections, independents may request to vote in the Republican or Democrat Primary.
If you are on the Active Early Voting List, you must make your request before the Elections Department can send you a ballot at Be Ballot Ready.
Any registered voter who resides in the City of Chandler boundaries (excluding County islands) may vote in a City of Chandler Election. To register to vote you must be:
- A citizen of the United States
- An Arizona resident at least 29 days before the date of the election
- 18 years of age or older on or before the date of the election
- Not have been convicted of a felony or treason, unless your civil rights have been restored

Early voting allows citizens to cast ballots by mail, or in person at vote centers prior to the scheduled Election Day.

You may join the Active Early Voter List (previously the Permanent Early Voting List (PEVL)) by submitting an Early Voting Ballot Request through the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office/Elections Department.

Once a registered voter has signed up to be on the Active Early Voting List, they no longer have to request an early ballot be mailed, the ballot will automatically be mailed to the voter 27 days prior to any election.
If a registered voter is not on the Active Early Voting List, they will have to make a request in order to receive an Early Ballot.

Maricopa County is moving to a “vote anywhere” election model, complemented by in-person early voting including some evenings and weekends leading up to Election Day.
Voters can vote early at any of the Vote Centers, or on Election Day voters can go into any Vote Center location and vote.

At the polling place, the voter shall announce his/her name and place of residence to the election official and present identification.

Voters must present one form of identification from List 1 or two different forms of identification from List 2 or List 3.
List 1 – if presenting from this list one form is required
- Valid Arizona driver license
- Valid Arizona non-operating identification license
- Tribal enrollment card or another form of tribal identification
- Valid United States federal, state, or local government-issued identification
List 2 – if presenting from this list two forms are required
- Utility bill of the elector that is dated within ninety days of the election. May be for electric, gas, water, solid waste, telephone, cellular phone, or cable television
- Bank or credit union statement that is dated within 90 days of the date of the election
- Valid Arizona Vehicle Registration
- Indian census card
- Property tax statement of the elector’s residence
- Tribal enrollment card or another form of tribal identification
- Vehicle insurance card
- Valid United States federal, state, or local government-issued identification
- Voter Registration Card / Recorder’s Certification. Can be paper or digital.
- Any “Official Election Material” mailing bearing your name and address
List 3 – Mix and Match from Lists 1 and 2
- Any Valid Picture ID from List 1 with an address that does NOT match the Precinct Register WITH a non-photo ID from List 2 with an address that DOES match the Precinct Register
- U.S. Passport and one item from List 2 where the address matches the voter registration record
- U.S. Military ID and one item from List 2 where the address matches the voter registration record.
