The City of Chandler is currently developing an Airport Master Plan for Chandler Municipal Airport. As part of the study process, the City will hold three open house meetings to provide an opportunity to engage the community on the findings of the Master Plan and to gain public input. The first open house will be held from 5:30–7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, at the Quantum Helicopters facility, located at 2401 S. Heliport Way, Chandler.

Residents interested in attending may RSVP online at or RSVPs are encouraged, but not required.

The Master Plan is a comprehensive, long-range study of the airport that describes a course of action for the facility to provide a safe and efficient environment to accommodate future aviation activity in Chandler. The goal of the Master Plan is to provide the framework needed to guide beneficial airport development that will cost-effectively satisfy aviation demand, while considering community development and potential environmental and socioeconomic issues.

Chandler Municipal Airport serves the community as an economic development engine and is a key part of the City’s transportation system. It is home to approximately 500 based aircraft and more than 225,000 annual aircraft operations. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) recommends that public-use airports like Chandler Municipal Airport prepare a new Master Plan every seven to 10 years, or as necessary, to address local changes at the airport. The previous Master Plan was approved in 2010; therefore, the City has initiated this study to ensure the airport continues to be operated in a safe and efficient manner, and to address any changes in the aviation industry from a local, regional and national perspective.

The Master Plan is being prepared by the airport consulting firm Coffman Associates, and represents a cooperative effort between the FAA, Arizona Department of Transportation – Aeronautics Group (ADOT) and the City of Chandler. For more information on the Master Plan, please contact Coffman Associates at 602-993-6999, Chandler Municipal Airport Staff at 480-782-3540, or visit the Chandler Master Plan Update.
