Chandler seeks nominations for Disability Awareness Awards

The Mayor's Committee for People with Disabilities each year holds a celebration to recognize the efforts of people with disabilities and those who support them in our community.

The public is encouraged to nominate a student with disabilities or people and organizations from the community whose efforts help increase public awareness of the contributions made by those with disabilities. The nomination deadline is Monday, Feb. 12.

Nominations for Chandler's 27th Annual Disability Awareness Awards are being accepted in the following categories:

• Student of the Year: Recognizes a student with a disability who has excelled beyond his or her apparent limitations

• Volunteer of the Year: Recognizes an individual who has demonstrated consistent and outstanding volunteer service to people with disabilities

• Habilitator/Educator of the Year: Recognizes an individual who has worked in the field of training or educating people with disabilities

Nominations are being accepted one per category by the nominating individual or organization and must be submitted on the 2018 Nomination Form. The form can be found online at www.chandleraz.gov/therapeutic.

Completed forms can be emailed to Collette.Prather@chandleraz.gov, faxed to 480-782-2725, or mailed to the Mayor's Committee for People with Disabilities, ATTN: Recognition Awards, Mail Stop 501, P.O. Box 4008, Chandler, AZ 85244-4008.

Awards will be presented by Mayor Jay Tibshraeny at the March 5, 2018, Council Study Session.
