LibCon 2018 at Downtown Chandler Public Library June 9

May 30, 2018

What brings teens and pre-teens from across the Valley together for all things sci-fi, fantasy, anime, cosplay, gaming and more? The answer is LibCon, a free teens-only convention for fans of comics, video games and all things pop culture. LibCon offers teens a supportive environment for teens to gather and connect over shared hobbies and interests.
LibCon began seven years ago as a program targeting young people ages 12-18 who wanted to have the “Con” experience – like the recent Phoenix Comic Fest – but without adults, traveling time to Phoenix and expenses. Today, Chandler Public Library’s LibCon is an annual program that teens not only love to attend, but participate in as well. This is a well-attended, free convention where teens can be themselves in a safe environment.
This year, LibCon will take place after regular library hours from 6-9:30 p.m. Saturday, June 9, at the Chandler Downtown Library, 22 S. Delaware St. A new addition this year will be a K-Pop dance performance by Basha High School students, a teen hang-out area, anime viewing through and more! The Arizona State Library will be in the Tech Lounge showing off the latest in virtual reality and other high-tech toys. There will be trivia, special presentations and vendors selling merchandise. The Cup O’Karma café located inside of the library will be open with special menu items for LibCon participants.
