Nominate local veterans for Operation Welcome Home Chandler
The City of Chandler is now accepting nominations for its Operation Welcome Home Chandler ceremony that will be held on Veterans Day. Nominated veterans should be Chandler residents and have been on active duty within the last three years or leaving soon.
Operation Welcome Home Chandler is an opportunity for Chandler residents to honor and show appreciation for military men and women who are returning from active duty or leaving for service. Residents or businesses also may participate through sponsorship or in-kind donations for the program.
"We encourage friends and family members of veterans to submit nominations for their loved ones to be honored," said Councilmember Nora Ellen and creator of the Welcome Home Chandler Program. "This is Chandler's way to recognize our veterans and to share how much we appreciate their dedicated service."
The Chandler veterans participating in Welcome Home Chandler will be honored during the Mayor's Safety and Veterans Expo on Veterans Day, Saturday, Nov. 11, at Veterans Oasis Park, 4050 E. Chandler Heights Road. The ceremony will take place at 11:11 a.m.
During the ceremony, veterans are part of a procession escorted by the Arizona Patriot Guard to the Veterans Memorial, where members of the Chandler City Council will recognize and thank each individual. During the ceremony, the honorees will be presented with a gift basket with donations from the community.
