Participants and volunteers make Family Bike Ride a success
The City wishes to extend a big 'Thank You' to the 200-plus people who joined Chandler Mayor Jay Tibshraeny and Vice Mayor Kevin Hartke for Chandler's annual Family Bike Ride held Saturday, April 25, along the scenic Paseo Trail.
The event was free and participants received information about bicycle safety and a free T-shirt from the Maricopa Association of Governments. The Chandler Kiwanis Club, Whole Foods and the Coalition of Arizona Bicyclists provided goodies and Kona Ice helped cool down cyclists when they completed the ride.
The 7.4-mile ride was held in conjunction with Valley Bike Month and started at Chandler's Park & Ride lot near Tumbleweed Park and traveled the Paseo Trail along the Consolidated Canal to Crossbow Park and back.
Nearly 50 volunteers contributed to the success of the event, which included Key Club Members from Hamilton and Perry High Schools, the Phoenix Metro Bicycle Club, Girl Scout Troops 2454 and 337, and the Coalition of Arizona Bicyclists.
