Public Housing wait list opens in Chandler

CHANDLER, Ariz. – The City of Chandler Housing and Redevelopment Division is opening its public housing wait list starting Thursday, Oct. 7. The wait list was last open in June 2018.

Chandler currently serves low-income families and the public housing wait list is being opened to ensure an adequate pool of applicants is available when open units occur. The City encourages all interested applicants to apply. Pre-applications will be accepted beginning at noon MST Thursday, Oct. 7, through noon MST Thursday, Oct. 21. Pre-applications will be available in the following ways:

  • Online: Interested applicants can apply online at Apply for Housing. Applicants must complete both steps of the process: 1) Create an online account and 2) Complete a pre-application.
  • In person: Pre-applications may be picked up near the drop box on the door leading from the garage into the building at 226 S. Washington St., Chandler.
  • Mail: Requests for pre-applications should be made to the City of Chandler Housing and Redevelopment Division, Mail Stop 101, P.O. Box 4008, Chandler, AZ 85244-4008. Requests to receive a paper pre-application by mail also can be made via phone at 480-782-3200 (*711 via Arizona Relay Service, TTY English 800-367-8939 or español 800-842-2088); fax 480-782-3220; or email Chandler Housing.

Completed paper pre-applications can be submitted in the Housing drop box in the garage at 226 S. Washington St., Chandler AZ 85225; email Chandler Housing; mail to Housing and Redevelopment Division, Mail Stop 101, P.O. Box 4008, Chandler, AZ 85244-4008 (mailed applications must be postmarked by Thursday, Oct. 14); fax 480-782-3220; or call 480-782-3200. Oral language translations in any language are also available and in those situations, the pre-application can be submitted by phone.

Interested applicants will need to provide the following during the pre-application process: Information for all household members to include: First, Middle, and Last Names; birth dates; and total gross annual income from all sources.

Verification of household information will only be required during the eligibility process. In addition, interested applicant’s household income must not exceed: 1 person-$44,250, 2 persons-$50,600, 3 persons-$56,900, 4 persons-$63,200, 5 persons-$68,300, 6 persons-$73,350, 7 persons-$78,400, 8 persons-$83,450, 9 persons-$88,500, 10 persons-$93,550.

2,000 pre-applications will be placed on the public housing waitlist from the applicant pool will be placed on the wait list by random selection (“lottery”). Pre-applicants not selected will have to reapply for assistance when applications are open again.
