For Our City-Chandler teams with non-profit group to paint homes

An effort to paint the homes of low-income seniors, disabled individuals and military veterans is being organized by Rebuilding Together Valley of the Sun, a volunteer home rehabilitation organization, with support from For Our City-Chandler.

The valley wide one-day Rock and Roll Paint-A-Thon will be held Saturday, October 22, and will paint the exteriors of single-story homes of qualifying individuals for free.  All paint, paint supplies and insurance will be provided to volunteers, along with a free event t-shirt that will incorporate the name or logo of sponsoring groups and organizations.

Chandler City Councilmember Kevin Hartke, Director of For Our City-Chandler, is working with the City’s Neighborhood Resources Division to publicize the event and solicit volunteer teams of from 20-25 people from Chandler families, businesses, churches, schools, social service organizations and civic groups.

“This is a great annual event and we want to help identify Chandler homes in need of painting and work with our residents to organize groups of volunteers to help as many Chandler families as possible,” Hartke said.

Applications for homeowners needing their homes painted, and groups wishing to volunteer, are available by visiting, or by calling (480) 774-0237.

Volunteers must be at least 14 years of age and those under 18 need a signed parental permission form.  Homeowners must own and live in the homes and provide proof of income.  No rentals or leased properties are eligible. Application deadline is September 1.
