Certified Arborist training offered

Landscape industry professionals interested in becoming certified Arborists can obtain specialized training by attending a Certified Arborist Training Course being held in Chandler and administered by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA).  The course is designed to prepare tree care industry workers for the ISA Certified Arborist Exam.

Deadline for registration is August 10.  Cost for all five classes is $390 for Arizona Community Tree Council (ACTC) members or $490 for non-members. Individual classes cost $85 for ACTC members or $120 for non-members. The sixth class, a review class, will be offered at an additional, discounted fee. Information: or call 602-354-3023.

Four of the six classes will occur on consecutive Fridays beginning August 24 through September 14. The fifth class will be held Saturday, September 15 in a Chandler park and the sixth class, a review class, will occur at the ACTC Conference being held Friday, September 21 at Wild Horse Pass Hotel & Casino, 5040 Wild Horse Pass Blvd. All classes will be held from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. 


Friday August 24: Tree Biology, Tree Selection and Identification, Installation and Establishment, Urban Forestry

Friday August 31: Water Management, Tree/Soil Relations, Tree Nutrition and Fertilization

Friday September 7: Pruning, Plant Health Care, Diagnosis and Plant Disorders

Friday September 14: Tree Assessment, Trees and Construction, Climbing and Working in Trees, Safety, Tree Support and Protection Systems

Saturday September 15: Outdoor demonstration workshop includes equipment familiarization, tree climbing, etc.

Friday September 21 (Wild Horse Pass Hotel): Plant identification, Taxonomy and Certified Arborist Exam Review
