Learn springboard diving!

If you’re between the ages of eight and 18, Chandler’s Aquatics Program has a series of beginning and advanced springboard diving classes that will have you diving with confidence in just a few exhilarating classes. Lessons are taught at Chandler’s Mesquite Groves Aquatic Center, 5901 S. Hillcrest Drive.

Learn the positions and fundamentals of springboard diving in a fun and safe environment with skilled instructors eager to help you make a splash the next time you’re at the pool. The beginning Learn to Dive class focuses on basic board-work techniques, entry work and skill development on a one meter diving board.

An Advanced Springboard Diving class is available for students who’ve already completed a series of introductory diving lessons. Participants will learn back, inward, reverse, and twisting/flipping dives on a one meter board. The ability to perform a hurdle, tuck and pike dive also are prerequisites.

The series of four-to-eight-day classes begin Feb. 16 and continue to be offered through early-May. A one-time USA Diving fee of $12 is charged, along with a registration fee of $11 to $30 depending on residency and number of lessons. Additionally, an instructor fee of $40 to $108 dollars is required.

Chandler residents can register online at www.chandleraz.gov/registration beginning at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 6. Nonresidents can register beginning at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 12. A special online “wish list” feature allows participants to pre-select classes now so they are ready to go on registration day.
