Arizona Chic exhibit at the Vision GalleryArizona Chic Couture History Comes to the Vision Gallery in Chandler
Exhibit showcases curated collection from Fashion Icon Robert Black

Beginning March 18, the Vision Gallery in Downtown Chandler will host Arizona Chic: Couture from Arizona’s Past, an exhibit that celebrates some of the most glamorous, most understated and most over the top examples of Arizona fashion, as curated by Robert Black of Fashion by Robert Black from Scottsdale. From the eclectic to the perfect resort ensemble, gallery visitors can see how Arizona designers have made their mark over the years with cutting edge fashion for desert living.

“There was a time when Arizona’s chic fashion was written about and taken to destinations all around the world,” says Robert Black, curator. “Visitors were enamored by the Western and Southwest-themed styles, as well as the comfortable cotton fabrics and bright colors that were made for our desert sun.”

The public is invited to the opening reception for the exhibit on Friday, March 18, from 7-9 p.m., at the Vision Gallery, located at 10 E. Chicago St. The collection will be on display March 18 through April 30, and depicts Arizona’s fashionable past.

“This exhibit explores the local look of Arizona Chic as well as the international designer dresses that were sold in many high fashion boutiques,” says Robert Black, curator. “From the high-toned Goldwaters department store to the trading posts on Arizona’s reservations, fashion was being created for every fashionista.”

“We are excited to have another Robert Black show at Vision Gallery,” says Eric Faulhaber, Visual Arts Coordinator, Vision Gallery. “Last year, visitors loved the Little Black Dress exhibit curated by Robert. I think they will be wowed by the color and variety in Arizona Chic.”

Vision Gallery is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and, as always, exhibits are free for the public to see.
