$4 million road improvement project underway

The City’s program of improving its major arterials in south Chandler will take another step forward this month with the widening of McQueen Road between Chandler Heights and Riggs roads.

Grey Mountain Construction, LLC, will spend $4 million and the next eight months making improvements to the roadway, including the addition of a second lane northbound and southbound, plus bike lanes, turn lanes, landscaped medians, street lighting, storm drains, curb, gutter, sidewalks and the extension of underground water, sewer and reclaimed water lines.

McQueen Road has long been one of the major north-south routes providing access to the Loop 202 San Tan Freeway. The project’s initial impact on traffic will involve the shifting of all traffic to the west side of the roadway beginning Tuesday, April 12, allowing crews to begin working on the east side. Traffic will remain on the west side of the road for approximately four months, and then will be switched to the east side so that improvements can be made to the west side.
