Ocotillo Road improvements begin this month

The City’s program of improving the capacity of older arterial streets will take another step forward next week when work begins on the widening of a three-quarter-mile stretch of Ocotillo Road between Cooper Road and Norman Way.

Standard Construction Company will start work Monday, Nov. 6, and spend $2.1 million and the next four-and-a-half-months making improvements to the roadway. Portions of Ocotillo Road already have been completed by developers and other City projects.

This work will complete the improvements to four lanes with bike lanes, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, street lighting, traffic signals, storm drainage, landscaping, utility relocation and wet utilities.

The project’s initial impact on traffic will involve the shifting of all traffic to the north side of Ocotillo Road, allowing crews to begin working on the south side. Traffic then will switch to the south side of Ocotillo Road while improvements are made to the north side.

The roadway will remain open throughout construction and access will be maintained to homes and businesses. For more information, call 480-782-3146.
