Find your perfect match Valentine’s Day weekend at the Chandler Tennis Center. The City serves of some friendly competition and shares their love for the game with USTA members. USTA rules govern play and sweet prizes will be awarded. Keep your eye on the ball; deadline to register is Friday, Feb. 7.

The year 2020 marks the centennial of the Nineteenth Amendment and the culmination of the women’s suffrage movement. The year 2020 also marks the sesquicentennial of the Fifteenth Amendment (1870) and the right of black men to the ballot after the Civil War. The theme speaks, therefore, to the ongoing struggle on the part of both black men and black women for the right to vote.

Join us for Live at Lunch, a free lunchtime concert series featuring a different musical performer each week, held at the Downtown Stage, 178 E. Commonwealth Ave. Bring your co-workers, family, friends and your lunch — or get a to-go option from our popular Downtown eateries — and enjoy the show.

The concert series will continue every Wednesday at noon, with new acts through April 1. 

Author Marty Brounstein will present his book "Two Among the Righteous Few: A Story of Courage in the Holocaust." He brings a true interfaith story of courage, compassion, and rescue about a couple in the Netherlands named Frans and Mien Wijnakker who, despite much risk and danger, saved the lives of over two dozen Jews during World War II.

On Saturday, Feb. 8, Chandler celebrates the exploration of invention. The Chandler Science Spectacular showcases the businesses, artists, students and innovators from our Community of Innovation from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Downtown Chandler.

This free event offers unique opportunities for attendees to explore the discoveries of science engineered in their own backyard. Chandler uses ‘sneaky science’ by entertaining the whole family while explaining how science is important to daily life.

The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety has awarded highway safety grants in the amount of $30,811 to the Chandler Fire Department (CFD) that will enable the CFD to continue its Child Safety Seat Clinics program through Sept. 30, 2019. Grant funds will be used to staff the clinics and provide 150 child safety seats to families who cannot afford to purchase this lifesaving equipment on their own.
