Chandler takes great pride in connecting communities to nature. This is accomplished through partnerships with like-minded organizations, by sharing similar visions with community leaders, being active within neighborhoods and by inviting the community into nature. Park Programs help maintain our natural diversity, improve habitats for wildlife and stimulate natural beauty.
Parks provides unique, energizing and highly visible volunteer projects for organizations across Chandler. Participants will build leadership, teamwork and communication skills, all while having fun and making a positive difference in our community. Hands-on projects include planting trees, improving trails, removing invasive plants or cleaning lake and river banks. Projects occur year-round and last 3-6 hours. Scheduling is flexible, and projects take place Monday-Friday during normal business hours.
Birding
Whether you are a novice birder or have been birding for years, come and enjoy the feathered friends of Chandler’s parks. Veterans Oasis Park is one of the best birding spots in Chandler. Hundreds of bird species may be seen and many more across the City and the variety changes constantly throughout the year.
Community Fishing
Chandler anglers can experience two opportunities to wet a line without having to travel to rural locations to fish. In partnership, with Arizona Game and Fish, the City’s community fishing holes provide high-quality angling experiences. Desert Breeze and Veterans Oasis Park lakes are stocked with fish every two weeks from mid-September through June. Arizona state fishing regulations apply to fishing in Chandler parks.
Chandler’s Urban Forestry program is dedicated to protecting and preserving the city’s natural resources and providing education that empowers Chandler’s neighborhoods to care for and celebrate our urban tree canopy.
