Ocotillo Road Improvements: Gilbert Rd to 148th St

The City of Chandler has contracted with Haydon Building Corp and Consultant Engineering (CEI) for construction which will begin soon to widen Ocotillo Road to four lanes (two lanes in each direction), from Gilbert Road to 148th Street. Improvements include construction of raised medians, bike lanes, center turn lanes, sidewalks, curb, gutter, street lighting, traffic signal and drainage improvements, landscaping, and utility relocations.

The project includes drainage improvements such as retention basins and concrete scuppers to accommodate future drainage needs in the project area. In addition, there will be improvements to traffic signals and the traffic signal interconnect, as well as new LED street lighting and conversion of overhead electric power to underground. 

The project received federal funds for design, and a combination of federal and local funding for construction. 

Construction began in late November 2022 and is scheduled to take approximately 9 months to complete.

CONSTRUCTION INFO (Dec. 13, 2022):

  • Crews will soon begin installation of 36" irrigation pipe on the north side of Ocotillo Road from Mustang to Cobblestone Drive. As work crosses driveways, crews will work to maintain access; however, if you need access and it is not available, please get the attention of a crew member. Residential services should not be disrupted during this work; however, please contact us if you experience any issues.
  • Electric crews will also begin work to install conduit for street lighting on the south side of Ocotillo Road, east of Lindsay Road. Following work on the south side of Ocotillo, similar work will take place on the north side.
  • Ocotillo Road will remain open for travel during this work with initial work through the holidays taking place on the north and south shoulder of the road.
  • Access to residences and businesses will be maintained.

City of Chandler Title VI Notice to the Public

The City of Chandler hereby gives public notice that it is the City’s policy to assure full compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Civil Rights Restoration Act of 1987, and related statutes and regulations in all programs and activities. Title VI requires that no person shall, on the grounds of race, color, sex, national origin, age or disability be excluded from the participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be otherwise subjected to discrimination under any Federal Aid Highway program or other activity for which the City receives Federal financial assistance.

Any person, who believes his/her Title VI protection has been violated, may file a complaint. Any such complaint must be in writing and filed with the City’s Title VI Program Manager within one hundred eighty (180) days following the date of the alleged discriminatory occurrence.
