Previous G.A.I.N. at a Chandler neighborhood

CHANDLER, Ariz. — Chandler neighborhood watch groups that hosted a community Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods (G.A.I.N.) event last year are encouraged to submit a nomination for the Mayor’s Neighborhood Excellence Awards. Nominations are now open through Sunday, Aug. 10, and may be completed online at Mayor's Neighborhood Excellence Awards.

The annual awards recognize Chandler neighborhoods for their participation in G.A.I.N. and those neighborhood leaders who continuously work to improve their community and inspire others to be more active and involved. Prizes for the winners will be applied towards their fall G.A.I.N. events and include a pick in the 2025 G.A.I.N. event lottery (which allows them first pick of police resources to have at their event), up to $1,000 credit toward a pre-approved vendor for the neighborhood’s G.A.I.N. event, plus a visit from Mayor Hartke.

There are two award categories available: Mayor’s Choice Award and the People’s Choice Award. Mayor Hartke will select the winner for the Mayor’s Choice Award. Online voting for the People’s Choice Award will start Wednesday, Aug. 13, and will continue through 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, at Mayor's Neighborhood Excellence Awards

The winners will be announced during the first hour (9-10 a.m.) at the G.A.I.N. kickoff event held on Saturday, Sept. 20, from 9-11 a.m. at the Chandler Police Main Station community room located at 250 E. Chicago St.
