Earth Day Environmental Education Center celebrates Earth & Arbor Days, 6th anniversary April 25
The Environmental Education Center (EEC) at Veterans Oasis Park will host a combined Earth Day and Arbor Day celebration from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2014. This free, family-friendly event – which is also a celebration of the EEC’s six-year anniversary – will include live animal presentations, craft activities, food and beverage vendors, and information booths.

Star Party Explore the cosmos at free Star Party on April 26
April 20-26, 2014, is International Dark Sky Week, when Dark Sky advocates attempt to raise awareness of how light pollution not only affects our view of the night sky but also the natural environment. The Chandler Environmental Education Center (EEC) at Veterans Oasis Park will observe Dark Sky Week and Global Astronomy Month by hosting a Star Party on Saturday, April 26, from 8:30 to 10 p.m.

The annual Chandler Family Bike Ride is back! The 7.4-mile ride is free, but pre-registration is recommended. Pre-registration will close at noon on Thursday, April 24. Access the online pre-registration form. The bike ride will take place along the Paseo Canal.

Break Time Summer recreation class registration opens May 3 for Chandler residents, May 9 for non-residents
Registration for the many recreation classes, camps and activities offered by the City of Chandler this summer opens at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2013, for residents. The summer session features leisure and lifestyle classes and programs for people of all ages, including: film, animation, dance, sports, art, cooking, swimming and much more.

Calling all Chihuahuas Calling All Chihuahuas – Planning Set For Cinco de Mayo Celebration and Chihuahua Races
A full day of fun and excitement is planned for the 17th Annual Cinco de Mayo Celebration and Chihuahua Races being held Sat., May 3 in downtown Chandler. Presented by the Sí Se Puede Foundation, the festive event will be held from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. in the Public Library Courtyard, 100 E. Commonwealth Avenue. The famous Chihuahua races, sponsored by SRP, will begin at 2 p.m., followed by the crowning of the King and Queen Chihuahua. Registration for the races begins at noon and is open to the first 150 dogs.
