Outdoor Recreation
The outdoors offers something for everyone, including archery, bird watching, fishing, hiking, horse riding, rock climbing and more.
ARIZONA TRAVEL SERIES
This spring we are taking trips to Out of Africa Wildlife Park, on the Verde Canyon Railroad and to Sedona. Questions? 480-782-2705.
BE PREPARED FOR THE ARIZONA OUTDOORS
The outdoors is much more enjoyable if you’re in good physical condition, so please consider your capabilities. Also, expertise is not required in our programs, but preparation is. Please, always bring the following items on hikes and remember to dress for the weather:
- Comfortable clothing
- Lunch, snack food
- Two quarts of water
- Rain gear but prepare for extremes
- Hiking boots or sturdy gym shoes
- Hat or bandana
URBAN FISHING PROGRAM
Enjoy fishing at Desert Breeze Park. The lake is stocked with channel catfish, April through October, and rainbow trout, November through March. If you are age 13 or younger, a license is not needed. Ages 14 and older must purchase an urban fishing license, available for $12 at most outlets selling fishing licenses. Desert Breeze Park is located 1/2 mile south of Ray Rd. on Desert Breeze Blvd. East (between McClintock and Rural Rds.). The lake is 3½ acres in size and 12 feet deep at its lowest point.
INSTRUCTORS NEEDED
The City of Chandler Recreation Division is always looking for quality instructors to enhance the variety of classes and workshops offered throughout the year at its many facilities. Our Recreation staff will work with you to make the experience of teaching in Chandler enjoyable and rewarding.
