2026 Primary Election

The City of Chandler will hold a Primary Election on July 21, 2026, for the purpose of:

Resolution No. 5990 – Call of Election | En Español

The information pamphlet will be posted here upon mailing in June. The 2026 General Plan Update is available for review at General Plan Update 2026.

Primary Election Key Dates

  • March 23 at 5 p.m. – deadline to submit candidate nomination petitions
  • March 23 – First day to accept arguments for and against Proposition 415
  • April 22 – Deadline to submit arguments for and against Proposition 415
  • May 11 – First day political signs can be posted (71 day for the primary election)
  • May 22 at 5:00 pm – Deadline for write-in candidates to submit nomination papers
  • June 16 – Information pamphlets will be mailed to each household containing a registered voter
  • June 22 – Last day to register to vote in the July 21, 2026 Primary Election
  • June 24 – Early voting begins
  • July 10 – Deadline to request a ballot by mail
  • July 21 – Election Day

Registered Independent Voters

All City of Chandler registered voters including Independent Registered Voters are eligible to vote in the Primary Election.

The City of Chandler will hold a Primary Election on July 21, 2026, for the purpose of:

  • Electing a Mayor and three Councilmembers to serve on the Chandler City Council.
  • Proposition 415 – Proposed Ratification of the 2026 Chandler General Plan by the Voters

Any registered voter who resides in the City of Chandler boundaries (excluding County islands) may vote in a City of Chandler Election.  You may register to vote online through Service Arizona, or contact the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office to request an Arizona Voter Registration Form, or call 602-506-1511.

To register to vote you must be:

  • A citizen of the United States
  • An Arizona resident at least 29 days before the date of the election
  • 18 years of age or older on or before the date of the election
  • Not have been convicted of a felony or treason, unless your civil rights have been restored

You may register to vote online through Service Arizona, or contact the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office to request an Arizona Voter Registration Form, or call 602-506-1511.

Remember, June 22 is the deadline to register to vote in order to vote in the July 21, 2026 Primary Election. 

To vote in an election you must first register to vote.

If you have an Arizona Driver License and/or Arizona non-operating I.D. Card you may register to vote online through Service Arizona, or contact the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office to request an Arizona Voter Registration Form, or call 602-506-1511.

Remember, June 22 is the deadline to register to vote in order to vote in the July 21, 2026 Primary Election. 

You should update your existing voter registration if:

  • You moved
  • You changed your name
  • You would like to change your political party

Update your voter registration online through Service Arizona, or contact the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office to request an Arizona Voter Registration Form, or call 602-506-1511.

Early voting allows citizens to cast ballots by mail, or in person at vote centers prior to the scheduled Election Day. 

To request an early ballot by mail, call 602-506-1511 or request online through the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office.

You may join the Active Early Voting List (AEVL) by submitting a Active Early Voting List Request through the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office/Elections Department.

To join the AEVL, submit online through request through the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office, or call 602-506-1511 to request a paper form.

Once a registered voter has signed up to be on the Active Early Voting List, they no longer have to request an early ballot be mailed, the ballot will automatically be mailed to the voter 27 days prior to any election.

If a registered voter is not on the Active Early Voting List, they will have to make a request in order to receive an Early Ballot.

Remember, the last day to request an early ballot be mailed to you for the Primary Election is July 10, 2026.

Your early ballot must be received, not postmarked, by 7 p.m. on Election Day.

 

  • You may return your voted early ballot by postal mail.  Please make sure to mail your ballot well in advance of the deadline date to ensure that your vote is counted.  It is recommended that you mail your ballot at least 6 days before Election Day.

 

  • You may drop off your voted ballot at any Vote Center or Ballot Drop-Off location prior to 7:00 p.m. on Election Day.

Maricopa County is moving to a “vote anywhere” election model, complimented by in-person early voting including some evenings and weekends leading up to Election Day. 

 

Voters can vote early at any of the Vote Centers, or on Election Day voters can go into any Vote Center location and vote.

Maricopa County Elections Department’s Assistance Program strives to ensure equal access to the electoral process for all citizens and to provide the assistance some voters may require based on physical or mental abilities, mobility concerns, or language skill sets.

At the polling place, the voter shall announce his/her name and place of residence to the election official and present identification.

Voters must present one form of identification from List 1 or two different forms of identification from List 2 or List 3.

List 1 – if presenting from this list one form is required

  • Valid Arizona driver license
  • Valid Arizona non-operating identification license
  • Tribal enrollment card or another form of tribal identification
  • Valid United States federal, state, or local government-issued identification

List 2 – if presenting from this list two forms are required

  • Utility bill of the elector that is dated within ninety days of the election. May be for electric, gas, water, solid waste, telephone, cellular phone, or cable television
  • Bank or credit union statement that is dated within 90 days of the date of the election
  • Valid Arizona Vehicle Registration
  • Indian census card
  • Property tax statement of the elector’s residence
  • Tribal enrollment card or another form of tribal identification
  • Vehicle insurance card
  • Valid United States federal, state, or local government-issued identification
  • Voter Registration Card / Recorder’s Certification
  • Any “Official Election Material” mailing bearing your name and address

List 3 – Mix and Match from Lists 1 and 2

  • Any Valid Picture ID from List 1 with an address that does NOT match the Precinct Register WITH a non-photo ID from List 2 with an address that DOES match the Precinct Register
  • U.S. Passport and one item from List 2
  • U.S. Military ID and one item from List 2
