The Hangar Café

Hangar Café

For more than two decades, the Hangar Café has been as much a part of Chandler Municipal Airport as the planes themselves. Located on the northwest side of the airport in an aircraft maintenance hangar, the Hangar Café is a family-run, diner-style restaurant often populated by airport tenants, families and lots of dedicated regulars.

According to Fadi Aswad, the current owner of the Hangar Café, when the restaurant first opened in 1998, it catered to locals —  which were mostly airport pilots and nearby farmers until the population started to take off.

Airport Day 2026

Airport Day Logo

Chandler Municipal Airport, your hometown airport, for nearly 100 years!

Chandler’s Airport Day 2026 was held on Jan. 24 and was a huge success with over 15,000 people in attendance! Attendees were able to get a “passport” to the activities, and learn about the airport, airplanes, and the aviation industry. Aviation enthusiasts of all ages were able to touch, see, and sit in airplanes of all ages as well as talk to pilots and mechanics.

Many residents may not realize that Chandler has its own community airport which serves as the 16th busiest general aviation airport in the nation, and 6th busiest airport in Arizona. Airport Day gives CHD staff the opportunity to showcase their place of work. Airport Day attendees enjoyed aircraft displays (single-engine, vintage and modern planes), helicopter displays, flyovers, food trucks, and an opportunity to learn more about local businesses that call CHD and the surrounding Airpark area home.
