Manufacturing Month 2019: A Timeline of Tech Production In Chandler

Dating back to as early as 1967, high-tech manufacturers have chosen Chandler to house major production hubs. Decades later, approximately 23,570 Chandler employees are still actively working in the industry. To put the number in perspective, manufacturing jobs currently make up 20 percent of all jobs in Chandler, Arizona. 

To commemorate this year’s Manufacturing Month, we compiled a timeline of some of Chandler’s history in the high-tech manufacturing industry.

 

 

 

 

Manufacturing companies in Chandler continue to reinvest and grow in the community. Here is a list of just some of the companies that employ our residents and call Chandler home: 

  • NXP Semiconductors: The global semiconductor company has a manufacturing and R&D campus in Chandler with approximately 1,700 employees. NXP is a leading provider of automotive, industrial, and Internet of Things solutions.

  • Intel: The multinational technology company located in Chandler in 1979 and has approximately 11,000 employees spread across two campuses. Intel has announced plans to invest $7 billion to complete its Fab 42 facility, making it the world’s most advanced semiconductor factory. The project is expected to create an additional 3,000 jobs.

  • Northrop Grumman: This global aerospace and defense technology company is one of the world's largest weapons manufacturers and military technology providers. With approximately 1,650 total employees, Northrop Grumman has a large presence in Chandler’s Price Corridor and will soon be moving into a newly developed 617,000 square-foot campus that will serve as the company’s Launch Vehicles Division headquarters.

  • Rogers Corporation: Headquartered in Chandler, the engineered materials solutions company first located in 1967. Already the headquarters for the company's Advanced Connectivity Solutions business segment, Rogers Corporation relocated its global headquarters to Chandler in 2016. The company has approximately 450 employees in Chandler spread across multiple facilities.

  • Everspin Technologies: Headquartered in Chandler, Everspin is a public semiconductor company and a world leader in designing, manufacturing, and commercially shipping discrete and embedded Magnetoresistive RAM (MRAM) and Spin-Torque MRAM. The company has approximately 65 employees in Chandler.

  • Good Health Manufacturing: Good Health Manufacturing takes a unique approach to manufacturing a variety of health supplements and formulas at its Chandler headquarters — creating an end-to-end product for their clients through formulation, product design, packaging and fulfillment. 

  • Isola Group: Headquartered in Chandler, Isola designs, develops, manufactures and markets copper-clad laminates and dielectric prepregs used to fabricate advanced multilayer printed circuit boards.

  • Microchip Technology: Microchip was founded in 1987, but its history in Chandler dates back to the 1970s when it was the microelectronics division of General Instrument. Headquartered in Chandler, Microchip is a leading provider of microcontroller and analog semiconductors. The global Fortune 1000 company has approximately 1,500 employees in Chandler.
